Relations between customs services of Azerbaijan and Finland are enhancing

 

On May 10-11 under the leadership of the Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Customs service Lieutenant-General Aydin Aliyev Azerbaijan delegation went on an official trip to Finland by the invitation of the National Customs Office of the Republic of Finland.

On the first day of the trip the meeting between the Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Aydin Aliyev and the director-general of the National Customs Office of the Republic of Finland Tapani Erling was held in the headquarters of the National Customs Office of the Republic of Finland.

About enhancing relations in the mutual cooperation sphere of the two friendly countries were spoken with satisfaction and the future perspectives were discussed in warmly held meeting.

The director-general of the National Customs Office of the Republic of Finland Tapani Erling made a speech related with the presentation. He gave a comprehensive information about the present development trajectory of the customs system of his country.

The Chairman of the State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev in his turn shortly glancing at the passed development way of the Customs Service of Azerbaijan spoke about the role of the customs authorities in the formation of the budget incomes and the provision of the economic security. Then he continued his speech with the application of the information technologies, the measures implemented in the strengthening direction of the legislation basis. He emphasized that specially, thanks to the attention and care of the national leader of our people Heydar Aliyev the fast development strategy was started in the customs system. The SCC Chairman said that that day under the leadership of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev activities in this direction were intensified and the importance was attached to the provision of the development durability in all spheres in our republic.

The director-general of the National Customs Office of the Republic of Finland Tapani Erling remembered with pleasure the meeting with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. He said to his Azerbaijan colleague that this significant meeting made a pleasant impression on him.

The SCC Chairman Aydin Aliyev also spoke about advanced possibilities of the Regional Training Centre of the World Customs Organization situated in Baku and Cynological Centre. He gave information about being built the regional office for the strengthening of the potential in the capital of our republic to his colleague. A.Aliyev speaking about the relations of Azerbaijan with customs services of neighbour countries of Azerbaijan gave information about high level of relations with corresponding organizations of Turkey, Russia, Iran and Georgia. He said that only the cooperation is impossible with Armenia occupying 20 percent of lands of Azerbaijan. The head of the Customs Sevice of Azerbaijan also said that today uncontrolled zone was created in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan by Armenia. Just illicit transit of drugs, transportation of smuggling, cultural-historical riches are implemented through this zone.

At the same time issues related being held next year in the World Customs Organization were discussed at the meeting. Finland side requested from Azerbaijan to support the candidature of the head of the Customs Service of Hungary Yanosh Nagi for the post of the director of the strengthening of the Potential for the European region.

Then the delega\tion of Azerbaijan familiarized with the local customs authorities of Finland. First of all “Nyu Vuosari Xarbur” sea customs of the Southern regional customs office situated in Helsinki city was visited//. Here the delegation of Azerbaijan inspected “x-rail” systems. At the same time the implementation of the control on lorries and carriages by “Nyutex” installations of the Chinese production was comprehensively explained to our delegation. About carried out activies in the management direction of the risks were spoken and exchange of opinion was implemented.

On the second day of the visit “Agreement about cooperation and mutual assistance in the customs sphere” was signed between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Finland. The agreement was signed by the Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Aydin Aliyev and the director-general of the National Customs Office of the Republic of Finland Tapani Erling. After the signing ceremony by the participation of the representative of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Finland the briefing for the press representatives was held.

The delegation of Azerbaijan familiarized with the customs laboratory having over 100 years history. 75 men are working in the laboratory. This laboratory was provided with the most modern installations.

At the end of the two days visit one more meeting was held with the director-general of the National Customs Office of the Republic of Finland Tapani Erling. For high organizational and hospitality gratitude was expressed.

T.Erling spoke about the importance of the benefit from the experience of the customs officials of Azerbaijan in the struggle against illicit drugs trafficking. With this object he expressed his assurance that the visit of specialists of Finland to Azerbaijan and holding exchange of experience would give a gift to the mutual cooperation.

At the same time the Chairman of the State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev hoped that passing the experience of Azerbaijan colleagues in the customs laboratory of Finland would intensify relations between the customs services of the two countries.

A comprehensive exchange of opinion about the future perspectives of the cooperation was held at the meeting.
